Upstate Forever is a land conservation and advocacy organization that protects critical lands, waters, and the unique character of the Upstate of South Carolina.
The Upstate’s natural resources are preserved for future generations, and its unique rural character endures.
Protect Land and Water. Protect critical land and water resources for recreation, agriculture, health, and quality of life, now and for future generations.
Foster a Love of Place. Nurture an appreciation of land, water, and the unique character of the Upstate by raising awareness of the economic and lifestyle benefits of conservation and balanced growth, broadening the base of community support.
Convey the Importance of Now. Stress the need for urgency in protecting lands and waters, and communicate the consequences of in action and the importance of acting now — before it’s too late.
Serve as a Trusted Community Champion. Cement our reputation as a watchdog working on behalf of the public to improve or halt large projects that threaten our water quality, community character, and quality of life; and engage the public in our advocacy efforts for balanced growth and protecting natural resources.
We focus our work on the ten Upstate counties of Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg and Union.
We believe the Upstate is one the most beautiful places on earth and want to keep it that way forever!
We are a membership-based nonprofit organization whose work is made possible by generous donations from people like you, in addition to grants from public and private funding sources. We are strategic and careful with every dollar of our donors’ money. Please consider supporting Upstate Forever today! To view our archive of financial reports, click here.
