Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15th, 2021

Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans from September 15-October 15. On this first day of Hispanic Heritage Month 2021, we wanted to recognize several organizations working to build and celebrate diverse, thriving communities in the Upstate:

  • Since 1999, Asociación Hispano-Americana de Mujeres (AHAM) has been dedicated to promoting higher education among high school students of Hispanic descent through educational scholarships in Upstate, SC.

  • Alianza Spartanburg is a social impact network comprised of collaborators that work to facilitate, encourage, and promote the inclusion of members of the Latinx community in improving quality of life in Spartanburg County.

  • Hispanic Alliance-Alianza Hispana fosters collaboration and connectivity among people, resources, and cultures to build thriving communities.

  • LatinosUnited serve as role models for young Latinos in the Upstate by promoting community involvement, self empowerment and the pursuit of higher education.

We hope you'll join us in following and supporting the important work of these organizations this Hispanic Heritage Month and all year long! Together we can realize our vision of an environmentally healthy, economically prosperous Upstate that offers a high quality of life now and for future generations.
