Join us on Saturday, October 8 from 9 -11 am for a morning of volunteer work at the Chau Ram Expansion, a protected property adjacent to the Chau Ram County Park in Oconee County.
Participants will help remove invasive plant species and litter from this property protected by the City of Westminster and Upstate Forever. Participants are welcome to bring shears, saws, and gloves, though gloves and tools will also be provided. Volunteers will learn about the basic biology of invasive plants and why they are threatening the natural resilience of ecosystems and will also learn about the site's history and how it came to be protected by a conservation easement.
Due to limited parking available, the number of volunteers will be capped at 20.
This event is part of South Carolina Land Trust Days, the first ever month-long celebration of SC’s special places and the local land trusts that work to protect our state's natural resources. Fellow land trusts from across SC are hosting events during the month of October, offering residents an opportunity to get outside and connect with like-minded conservationists at volunteer opportunities, excursions, and other events all across the Palmetto State.
