We need your help to plant native species at the beloved Rocky River Nature Park in Anderson, SC on Wednesday, November 15 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Click here to register
This workday will involve planting native wildflowers and grasses to improve water quality and enhance foraging and nesting areas for native wildlife and migratory species. Throughout the 131-acre park — which was permanently protected in 2016 in partnership with Anderson University — visitors enjoy a matrix of bottomland forest and beaver-maintained wetlands which hosts over 168 species of passerine and migratory birds throughout the year. A population of the rare Swamp Rabbit (Sylvilagus palustris) is also known to inhabit the floodplain forests of the park.
This volunteer event is part of a series of events aimed at improving habitat quality for the abundance of wildlife that the park supports. We are grateful for the support of the Anderson County Watershed Protection Council in this restoration effort.
