Upstate Forever and partners receive grant from the Land Trust Bird Conservation Initiative - August 30th 2019

Upstate Forever, Clemson University, and Lake Conestee Nature Park have received a grant from The Cornell Lab and Land Trust Alliance's Land Trust Bird Conservation Initiative to study, determine, and share best management practices to restore and improve grassland bird habitats.

Together, this partnership will work with local birding clubs to establish baseline data for grassland birds on two distinctive conservation easements, including Lake Conestee Nature Park. Wildlife biology students at Clemson University will research current regional management practices, with results used to create a condensed guide for land trust partners and landowners presenting the best management practices to restore and improve grassland bird habitats while meeting landowner needs. Upstate Forever will develop an outreach program to share the project story and educate partners.

For more information about this grant, view The Cornell Lab of Ornithology press release or contact Land Conservation Director Scott Park at spark@upstateforever.org or (864) 250-0500 x26.
