City of Spartanburg comprehensive plan updates

September 18th, 2020

Plan Spartanburg, the City of Spartanburg's comprehensive plan update, is off to an impressive start! Nearly 100 attendees joined the first public meeting in real-time online on September 9, and a Facebook video of that meeting already has over 1,300 views!

In this public meeting, city staff and project consultants did a great job covering basics — what is a comp plan, and why is it important that citizens be involved? Then the consultant team shared what they've learned about the city so far and reviewed the project's timeline, goals, and priorities before fielding questions from the audience.

How can you engage in the process starting today?

  • Take a survey! Share your ideas about equity here and what you think on other topics here.

  • Check out On the Table, a project toolkit for residents to gather their friends, neighbors, colleagues, and others in small groups to talk about issues that impact quality of life in the city. Meetings can take place any time in September or October and participants will be invited to complete a short email survey about their conversations.

  • Mark your calendar and plan to engage in upcoming Plan Spartanburg events: Interactive visioning workshops on September 28 -29 (more details to be released soon) and Planapalooza on October 22-26.
