Ericka Berg was raised in Polk County, North Carolina where her family has deep roots. After graduating from Berea College in Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in biology, she made her way back to Western NC to serve as an AmeriCorps member at Conserving Carolina in Hendersonville. She spent several years there in fundraising, community engagement, education, and partnership roles before joining the City of Greenville in operations for Parks and Grounds.
In April 2023, Ericka joined Upstate Forever as the Land Stewardship Coordinator. In her role, she primarily works with conservation easement landowners responding to reserved rights requests, issues, property transfers, and any other questions they may have. She also performs annual monitoring, reporting, and helps with other stewardship related items.
Outside of work, Ericka serves on the board for Friends of DuPont Forest. She has been volunteering since 2018 and has been a board member since 2019.
When not working or volunteering, you can find Ericka somewhere outdoors, perhaps with her fiancé Jay. She enjoys a multitude of activities that she is not particularly great at, including running, mountain biking, backpacking, hiking, whitewater kayaking (in her ducky), and playing disc golf.
